Building the Internet of Things

Maciej Kranz a 30-year veteran in the computer networking industry and Vice President, Corporate Technology Group at Cisco needed help to create new concepts that illustrated and supported strategies mapped out in his new book, "Building the Internet of Things". As an Art Director of a three-person team, I collaborated with a technical writer on new visuals that were technical yet helped bring greater and easier understanding of very technical subject matter. For the visual style of the illustrations, I created the illustrations to not feel technical as the target audience are non-engineer business leaders who needed to easily grasp the concept of the Internet of Things and how it would impact their organization. We created illustrations to have a sense of wit but yet informative as they were to be used as the summary of strategies and case studies throughout the book. We wanted to give the illustrations a sense of depth and a theme of a journey as the purchasing of this book was the fist step the reader would have in gaining better insights of Internet of Things.
